Week of October 2 - 6
Monday students will be completing the Unit 1.1 Exam that took in class on Friday. All students will be allowed to make corrections on the parts that they have completed.
Vocabulary Quiz 1.2 will be given in class on Friday, October 6. This grade will NOT be posted in the 1st quarter grades, but will be the first grade of the 2nd quarter. The vocabulary list can be found on page 75 in the textbook.
We will be introducing the grammar from Unit 1.2 as well. Grammatical concepts to be covered are Noun-Adjective Agreement, Definite Articles, and Indefinite Articles.
Week of September 25 - 29
Unit 1.1 Exam will be given on Friday, September 29.
Material covered will be the Vocabulary on Page 51, the forms and uses of "Ser" on page 37, and the uses of MeTeLeNosLes Gusta on page 42.
Students should also be making sure that their grade is where they want it to be, with less than 3 weeks left in the quarter.
Many students still should re-take the Unit 1.1 Vocabulary Quiz
Week of September 18 - 22
This week in class we will be continuing to learn the grammar from chapter 1.1. There will be no announced assessments this week, but students have been told to expect that they should have the subject pronouns and forms of "Ser" memorized.
Students should also be making sure that their grade is where they want it to be, with less than 3 weeks left in the quarter.
Week of September 11 - 14
The Chapter 1.1 vocabulary quiz will be given in class this week, on Thursday, September 14. The list of possible words can be found on page 51 in the textbook. We will be working on the words in class but students should be working on them at home, in clusters, and not studying all of the words at once. Multiple short study sessions work best to learn such new material.
The Chapter 1.1 grammar will also be introduced in class: definite and indefinite articles.
Week of September 5 - 8
Friday, September 8 we will be having our first exam on the Preliminary Lesson, the material on page 25 in the textbook.
The new vocabulary list from chapter 1.1, on page 51, will be introduced on Friday before the test. We will be having the vocabulary quiz for this on Thursday, September 14.
We will also be introducing the grammar to go along with Chapter 1.1 as well.
There are no other announced assignments this week.
Week of August 28 - September 1
This week we will be complete the Preliminary Lesson vocabulary. We will continue to practice everything in class this week and students should be making sure they are practicing the vocabulary at home. The complete list can be found on page 25 in the textbook.
Sometime this week we will have an assessment on the days of the week.
The Unit Test will be next week, Friday, September 8.
Week of August 21 - 25
Curriculum Night is this Thursday, August 24!
This week we will be starting to learn the vocabulary of the Preliminary Lesson.
This can be found on page 25 of the textbook.
We will continue working on the Spanish alphabet, so we will be able to recite it in front of the class for a grade.
The days of the week will be quizzed first on an unannounced date.

We still are generally learning about how a foreign language class differs from a core academic class and l am still outlining and demonstrating my expectations.
Students that want a better grade on their Countries and Capitals quiz can re-take that at any time.

In Spanish class this week, we will be learning introducing the Spanish Speaking countries and their capitols. Students will be quizzed on this material on Friday, August 18.
We will also be working on the Spanish Alphabet and other introductory elements of Spanish.
